The processing of vapors with Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), better known as “degassing”, is a process that is already very common in storage tanks at terminals, but is still quite new for inland navigation tankers, despite European regulations, laid down in the CDNI (Convention on the Collection, Delivery and Collection of Waste in Rhine and Inland Waterways Transport), which is to be phased in everywhere in the coming years.
